This page contains a list of all of Quilt's past and present sponsorships, what they provide/provided us through those sponsorships, and instructions for applying to become a Quilt sponsor.
While Quilt is not (and hopefully never will be) a financially-driven project, sponsors help us to offset our costs, or provide tools or services that would otherwise be inaccessible to us. Additionally, in order to maintain transparency and to try to avoid problems (such as accepting a sponsorship and endorsing a problematic company), we have a detailed process that we follow when evaluating and accepting sponsorships.
Sponsorships may be endorsed, or non-endorsed. If a sponsorship is endorsed, then we've vetted the company to ensure they meet our sponsorship guidelines and we're happy to recommend their services to our community members.

Capitol Hosting Solutions
Capitol Hosting Solutions is a small game server and website hosting company headquartered in Seattle, which aims to make use of as much open-source technology as possible to provide their services, at a cost that won't break the bank.
Capitol Hosting Solutions provides hosting for most of Quilt's infrastructure at no cost to us - including our forum and Community Collab wiki. They also partner with Quilt and Modfest to provide hosting for official events such as BlanketCon.

1Password
1Password is a privacy-focused password manager, designed to safely store your credentials, and provide access to them in a convenient way whenever you need them.
1Password provides us with a free 1Password Team account as part of their 1Password for Open Source Projects program, which we use to share credentials and other sensitive data among the specific teams that need to use them. This allows us to securely store those credentials and ensure that they're only provided to the people that need them.
Amazon Web Services
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is an Amazon-owned company providing cloud computing services. They're one of the largest infrastructure providers in the world, responsible for keeping much of the Internet online.
AWS provides credits that we use to offset our operational costs, through their Promotional Credits for Open Source Projects program. We use AWS to host our Maven repository, and as an email provider for official Quilt email addresses.

Starchild Systems
Starchild Systems
Starchild Systems is an Infrastructure-as-a-Service and Software-as-a-Service company. They hosted the Quilt Forum, Collab Wiki and several of our Discord bots on their infrastructure at no cost to us.
While Starchild Systems is no longer sponsoring us, the company owners (the Starchild System) are part of Quilt's Infrastructure Team, and they help us to deploy, manage and run all of our services, including our Meta server and Maven repo. We also make use of their paid ModMail+ offering, which is a Discord bot that provides a simple way for our community members to communicate with the Community Team.

If you're an individual that just wishes to support us and help cover our costs, the best way to do so is by donating directly on our OpenCollective page.
In addition to Endorsed and Non-Endorsed sponsors, there are two types of sponsorship: Financial and Non-Financial. Financial Sponsorships are those that provide direct financial contributions to Quilt through our OpenCollective page, and non-financial sponsorships are those that provide tools or services to us at a discount, or for free. When offering us a sponsorship, please include whether it is a financial or non-financial sponsorship, as well as if you would like to be endorsed or not.
When deciding whether to accept a sponsorship, we look for sponsors that provide high-quality products at fair and competitive prices, market their products transparently and honestly, and do not discriminate against minorities, have a history of anti-consumer practices, or conduct business in a way that is unsustainable or especially harmful to the environment. A good sponsorship offer should include the following:
- Information about you, the sponsor
- What the sponsorship is (tools, services or money)
- Any additional terms of the sponsorship (if applicable)
- Links to your website, social media etc -- we're more likely to accept your sponsorship if you have a website with lots of details about your offerings
